All the silhouette artists ( and I know many) feel the same about this inferior paper. There was a day 15 years back when we had high quality paper to cut on. Jodi Carr is right on her evaluation of Hygloss silhouette paper but I could add a few more frustrating examples...separation of the fold, paper quality that wouldn't hold the scissor blades in place, paper quality varies, trimming is next to impossible ,etc. As for Joe Bagley...your work is excellent so that is why I am so confused why you would give this paper such a high rating. Your web site says you are in your 20's so without trying to sound cute maybe you just haven't worked on the paper that we have had in the past.

Bad batch of silhouette paper |

The current batch of silhouette paper is of inferior quality. Splintery bits are visible on the white side; they render it impossible to make crisp detailed cuts. It the current paper curls dramatically when adhesive is applied.
Previously, the the Hygloss silhouette paper I purchased was of good quality but unfortunately something has changed for the worse.
It would be fine for kindergarten projects but not suitable for professional artists.

Best paper for silhouette and papercut art! |

I have been papercutting for 15 years. In 2007 Hygloss silhouette paper was recommended to me, I made the switch, and I've never used another paper.
It has an extremely deep black color, with an almost soft feel that keeps it from being shiny. They paper itself has extremely small pulp making corners cut extremely cleanly.
The paper is strong enough to stand up to rigorous cutting and extremely thin lines, but very thin so your hand does not tire quickly.
I can not recommend this paper enough, and all silhouette and black papercut artists should immediately switch to Hygloss Silhouette Paper.
