Instructions

  1. Fold the desired amount of hearts (at least 3) in half vertically.
  2. Using a glue stick, glue half of one heart to half of another heart, back to back.
  3. Add on the desired number of hearts.
  4. Glue together the first and last heart, and watch it become a circular shape! OR...
  5. If you wish to hang the heart from a ceiling: Before step #4, cut a piece of lanyard to double the desired length, and fold in half. Place the 2 ends of the lanyard in the center of all the hearts. (The loop where the lanyard was folded should extend past the top of the hearts, with the 2 ends of lanyard touching the bottom points of the hearts.) Use craft glue to glue lanyard neatly into place, along the folds of the hearts. Then glue stick the last and first hearts together.
How teachers can use this Valentine's craft as a Valentine's activity:

Before doing the Valentine craft, give children a set amount of Bright Heart Shapes. Have them write their names on top of each heart. Then have children exchange hearts with their friends and write a short note to- or compliment about- the name on top of that heart. When they give them back to their friends to read, watch the children's delight as they read their Valentine cards! Now you can proceed with the Valentine's Day craft- let each child form a 3D heart with his or her own valentines!
