Diversity Poster

Teach children about Black History Month in a fun and interactive way! Tell them about Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I have a Dream" speech. This adorable poster will display how his dream did become an actuality by showing diverse children holding hands. Children will surely enjoy choosing clothing for each "paper doll".
Diversity Poster Craft

Supplies Box

*Note:
You can use any colored paper for the clothing but the felt and velour definitely give it a wintery feel!

Instructions

    1. For the background, lay four blue bright tag papers vertically next to each other. Attach by taping the edges together.
    2. Choose 5 Culturally Diverse People Cut-Outs.
    3. Print out the Diversity Poster Pattern and cut out the shirt, skirt, pants and jumper. Trace onto any color felt or velour and cut out. You can decide which ones will be girls or boys.
    4. Glue down onto your people cut-outs.
    5. Decorate the people with eyes, hair, a drawn smile, buttons, neck ties, or anything else you desire. Be creative!
    6. On the top write "I HAVE A DREAM".
Hint:
To make this into an activity that children can enjoy many times over, use velcro circles to attach the clothing to the "paper dolls". This way the children can mix and match the clothing each time they play.
Now hang your door hanger on any door of your choice! Make as many door hangers as you can and display on each door in your house for Presidnts' Day.
