BUTTON SORTING ACTIVITY

Hygloss Buttons are perfect for practicing sorting and color recognition. You can vary the activity depending on the child's level.   You will need:   Instructions:
  • Trace the bottom of the muffin tin/ cup onto colored cardstock. Make one circle for each color button you plan on using.

  • Place a colored circle into each muffin cavity.

  • Let your child have fun sorting thru the buttons and placing them into the corresponding color compartment.
Variation: Practice counting! Write a number inside each cup, and have children place the correct amount of buttons in each one.

DIY BUTTON SENSORY TOY:

Gel filled sensory bags are another great learning tool. Here we added buttons, so your child can practice color sorting and letter recognition. Feel free to personalize this activity to meet your child’s interests, skills, and areas requiring reinforcement.   You will need:

  • Hair gel
  • Activity paper – download one or create your own simple one!
  • Hygloss assorted buttons
  • Tape (preferably strong tape like Duck Tape)
  Instructions:
  • Print out or draw the activity page you would like to use. It can have alphabet letters, words, pictures, number, colors etc.

  • Fill the bag with gel and add buttons. Squeeze out all the air, zip the bag closed, and seal it with a piece of tape.

  • Tape the bag onto the activity sheet.
