Set up is simple. What you will need:
- 4oz or larger Bright Buttons
- Pack of Jumbo Colored Popstix
- Box of Hook & Loop Coins
Step 1
Take 1 of each color popstick out of the box (red, blue, yellow, orange, green, and purple)
Step 2
Ensure each popstick is smooth, free of splinters and rough edges (swap out with other
stick of same color if needed)
Step 3
Affix six (6) “hook” coins (rough side) to each popstick, about ½” apart on one side of the
popstick.
Step 4
Open package of buttons, and find 6-10 buttons of each of the six colors, separate.
Step 5
Affix one “loop” coin (soft side) to the back of each of the buttons that you picked out.
Step 6
You should now have 6 popsticks with 6 hook backings, and anywhere from 36-60 buttons
with loop backings.
Activity
Present prepared sticks to child and either spread buttons on table for child to sort, or put
in large bowl for them to pick out and sort on their own.
You may assist the child and show the activity works by placing a button of each color
randomly on each corresponding stick, or sit back and watch their mind and imagination
take over!
