Yellow Bee Craft

Here's a fun color activity to keep your preschooler busy as a bee! This age-appropriate yellow craft is just what you'll need when teaching colors.
bumblebee yellow craft

Supplies Box

  1. Have children color thick black stripes on their Bumble Bee Cut-Out. Teacher or parent can draw the lines for children to color in, to make it easier for them.
  2. Color eyes and mouth on the face of the bumble bee.
  3. Now paint the entire bumble bee with yellow paint; the paint will not adhere to the black crayon, so the stripes and face will show through the paint!
Tips for Teachers:

This bumble bee craft presents the perfect opportunity for a class biology discussion. Encourage kids to think of possible reasons why bumble bees are black and yellow. Some reasons include:
  • To help them hide by blending in to their environment (flowers, honeycombs)
  • To alert people and animals that they sting (yellow and black symbolize danger, poison etc.)
