Instructions

  1. Cut off cover of egg carton. Cut bottom of egg carton in half, and trim edges, so that you have a neat square with 9 grooves. (Optional: if you are using a cardboard egg carton, you may paint the carton.)
  2. Paint the eggs: 4 eggs should be yellow, and the other 4 the color of your choice, preferably all 4 a similar color. Allow paint to dry.
  3. Make the yellow eggs into chicks: Hold the egg with the narrow side down. Press 2 Wiggle Eyes onto the top of the "face." Cut a small orange triangle from Craft Foam and paste beneath the eyes for a beak. Cut out a small crown from orange Craft Foam. Use sharp scissors to make a slight indentation on top of the egg (front to back), fill with glue, and press crown into it.
  4. Decorate the other eggs: Use Different color paint to draw shapes or dots to make your own creative Easter eggs. Alternatively, cut out shapes from Craft Foam and glue onto eggs.
When all your chicks and eggs are dry, you are ready to play the Easter game!

*Tips for Teachers:

#1) Have children pair up and take turns using their own game and their partner's game to play this Easter game. Once they have gotten the hang of the game, encourage them to use critical thinking and logic to get a row, to trap their partner, and to look out for traps being done to them. When they take their game home at the end of the day, they can take these strategies with them as well, and beat their family members!

#2) Use this Easter activity as a springboard to incorporate biology into your lesson.
