Pencil Holder Craft

 
Create stunning pencil toppers and a flower pot pencil holder just in time for spring! Encourage children to write by simply using tissue paper and pipe cleaners to decorate a pencil. This pencil holder craft will enhance any home or classroom.

    *You may need a bigger size or you may have to cut according to the size of your container.
   

Instructions

 
Flowers:

  1. Cut about 15 pieces of tissue paper (about 4 inches by 6 inches) from the desired colors. Stack neatly. Optional: If you want to add leaves to your flowers, include 2 or 3 green layers on the bottom of the stack. When the flower is completed, cut the green tissue paper into leaf shapes.
  2. Fold squares accordion style lengthwise.
  3. Twist the top of a green pipe cleaner around the center of the folded tissue paper.
  4. Trim the ends of the tissue paper to enhance the your the flowers. For example, cut zig zag or wavy.
  5. Separate the layers by pulling one layer at a time upwards toward the middle. Do the same on the other side.
  6. Now that your flower is complete, twist the remaining stem around the top of a pen or pencil.
  7. Make as many tissue paper flowers as you desire.

Flower Pot Pencil Holder

    1. Take a piece of green felt and cut a strip (the length of the felt) about 1 inch taller than your container.
    2. Attach to container with glue gun. Start by gluing the felt to the bottom of the container. Then glue the two ends together. Now fold the top of the felt over the rim of the container and glue into the inside of the container.
    3. Decorate with flower stickers or anything else you want. (If you use stickers you might have to attach with glue gun.
    4. Place the styrofoam disc into the container. It should be tightly in place.
    5. Finally, stick your pens/pencils into the styrofoam in your flower pot.
