B For Butterfly Craft

A great alphabet exercise and a perfect spring craft for kids all in one! Here's a terrific pre-k craft that's both fun and educational! Use the letter "B" as the wings of a butterfly. Then let children use their creativity to decorate it. A real winner!

Instructions

  1. Trace Pattern and Cut out
    • Trace wing onto desired color of Metallic Foil Board. Then turn up side down and trace again onto the same color. Cut out both.
    • Trace butterfly's head and body onto desired colors of foil board. Cut out.
  2. Decorate
    • For the head, put on wiggle eyes and make a mouth from any red paper.
    • Optional: Use hole puncher to punch holes around the edges of the wings, about an inch apart from each other, as shown above. Cut a 27" piece of yarn. Have child lace yarn through the holes, as shown. Start by taping down one end of the yarn on back of wing, near the first hole. When finished lacing, tape down other end of yarn. Cut off excess yarn if necessary.
*Note: This step might be a bit difficult for young children. We recommend for children over 5 years of age. Alternatively, you can glue sequins all around the wings, or anything you want.
    • Put glue around holes of wings and pour on glitter. Put stickers all around. Decorate to your heart's content!
  3. Assemble:
    • Glue antennae to top of head.
    • Glue head to body.
    • Glue wings to either side of body.

Finished! Your butterfly is ready to soar!
