Instructions

For the Napkin Ring:
  1. Choose 4 to 6 colors of Bleeding Tissue Paper. It would be a good idea to pick autumn colors. Stack them in a neat pile and cut out a square about 5"x5". (You can cut them all together.)
  2. Keep the squares in a neat pile and fold them accordion style, each bend should be about 1/2" - 3/4".
  3. Now you should have what looks like a strip of many colors of tissue paper. Make a bend in the middle.
  4. Take a twist tie and tie it around the bend on the tissue paper.
  5. Now you will make it look like a flower, one layer at a time. Gently pull the top layer of tissue paper from one side of the twist tie up and away from the rest of the layers. Do the same thing on the other side of the twist tie. Now you should have, for example, only the purple layer "standing up" and the rest of the layers are still folded in an accordion.
  6. Repeat step 5 for all the layers, doing one color at a time; first do one side and then the other side.
  7. When all the layers are standing, you can shape it a little more with your hands into a round flower shape, if it didn't yet look like a flower.
  8. Then take a metallic foil board chain strip and tape the ends of the twist tie to it. Then tape/staple the chain strip together so it forms a ring.
  9. Now you can place a napkin inside of your thanksgiving napkin ring.
For the Place Card:
  1. Take a blank white playing card, or cut yourself a piece of white card stock about 3"x5".
  2. Cut 1" squares of bleeding tissue paper, matching to the colors of your napkin ring.
  3. Mix glue with water in a plastic cup, about a Tablespoon of each and mix it with a paintbrush.
  4. Spread a layer of this solution onto the white card.
  5. Now take your tissue squares and make a collage on top of the glue-water. After you place each square, paint over it with the glue-water solution. When the entire card is covered, make sure every square is completely covered with the solution.
  6. Then peel off the squares and you will be left with only the color of the tissue paper on your card.
  7. When it's dry, fold it in half lengthwise and write the names of everyone who will be at your thanksgiving table.
