Instructions

  1. Using a kitchen knife, slice 2 Styrofoam balls in half. You now have 4 half circles; you will only be using 3 of them.
  2. Take 2 of the half circles and slice off a half inch from their top and bottom as shown in diagram:   We will call these 2 cut half circles will be the base of the snowman, and will be the middle.) The uncut half circle will be the snowman's head.)
  3. With a hot glue gun, glue half circle to the bottom of the corrugated metallic sheet. (The flat ends should be on top and on bottom.) Glue directly above directly above "B".
  4. Print out the TEMPLATE with the pattern of the snowman's scarf, mittens and hat.
  5. Cut out the pattern of the scarf. Staple both ends to the red felt. Cut out the shape of the scarf from the felt. Don't forget to make slits at the ends, as shown in pattern. Carefully remove staples.
  6. Take the longer piece of scarf and glue its non-slit end to bottom-left of the snowman's head. Now take the smaller piece and glue its non-slit end to the bottom-right of the snowman's head.
  7. Tie the 2 pieces together towards the right side of the head. You can put a drop of hot glue under the tie to hold it in place.
  8. Cut out the pattern for the hat. Staple it to green felt. Cut out the shape of the hat from green felt. Don't forget to make slits at the top. Carefully remove staples.
  9. Fold up the bottom half inch of the hat, as shown in pattern, and glue it into place.
  10. Cut a very thin piece of red felt, about 2 inches long. Gather all the slits on top of the hat together in your hand to form a pom-pom. Use the thin red strip as a string to tie it together. Place a drop of glue in the back to hold it in place.
  11. Glue the hat to the top of the head.
  12. Cut out the pattern for the mittens. Staple them to the green felt and cut out the shape from felt. Carefully remove staples. You can cut out a thin red piece of felt, about ¾ inch long, and glue it onto the mitten as shown in picture.
  13. Glue each mitten onto a Popstick. Stick the Popstix into both sides of the snowman's belly.
  14. Use gravel for the face. Choose large green or blue pieces for the eyes, a large orange piece for the nose, and small pink pieces for the mouth. Put a drop of hot glue onto each spot of the snowman's head where you wish to place gravel. Place gravel on the glue and press into Styrofoam ball, so that the gravel looks slightly indented into the head.
  15. Finally, choose buttons, and glue them to the snowman's belly.
  16. For a finishing touch to the snowman craft, you can use scraps of Styrofoam to create mounds of snow on the bottom, and snowflakes all around.
Now sit back and admire your work of art! A 3D project masterpiece!
